Obituary of Janice K. Rubin
Janice K. Rubin
May 16, 1951 – Sept 28, 2025
Janice K. Rubin, a lifelong resident of Denver, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion.
Born to Edythe Mae Rubin and Albert M. Rubin, who preceded her in death, Jan grew up in south Denver (Englewood) with her beloved sister Gayle (née Rubin) Miller and carried a deep love for her familial roots. She studied photography in college—always an artist at heart—and was born with a beautiful eye that carried into her attire and her love for fine quality fashion.
For many years, she also worked in the family business: her father’s jewelry stores, Kenmark (17th & Welton) and Shaw’s (16th Street). Jan loved her time in the stores, and the loyal customers and cherished family connections were highlights she often spoke about—an important season of her life.
Jan’s passions were many. She loved the outdoors and lived for years in Carbondale, surrounded by the mountains she adored. Her later years in life she looked forward to a mountain drive in the fall to see the leaves turn. It brought immense joy.
Animals were her constant companions, and her love for them knew no bounds: her Doberman, Rocky; her hound, Jadey; her Akita, Zoe; and most recently, her sweet Joey. While living in south Denver with her beloved husband, Daniel, she built a successful dog walking and pet care business—and, to everyone’s surprise, she even turned Daniel into a dog lover.
Dance and art also remained close to her heart. She often practiced ballet in her mother’s condo, finding joy and expression through movement while continuing to nurture her love for photography. Her dance became worship. Beautiful music moved her profoundly—she wept when hearing Handel’s Messiah at the Denver Symphony, and Hebraic worship music stirred her spirit, connecting her to her deepest faith.
In 2008, Jan was blessed later in life to marry the love of her life, Daniel. Their time together was far too short, but their love was profound, and they often described their union as eternal. Now, they are joyfully reunited in heaven. Through Daniel, Jan embraced a new family and built strong, loving relationships with her stepchildren and grandchildren, who cherished her deeply.
At the very center of Jan’s life was her faith. Raised in the Jewish tradition, she came to know and follow the Lord, and she lived out her devotion fully within the Messianic Jewish community. Her faith was vibrant and contagious, guiding her every step. She cherished the Word of God and found great joy in her Hebrew roots. One of her greatest passions was Israel—the happiest she was ever seen was walking the streets of Jerusalem or standing on the Sea of Galilee, moments of pure fulfillment and joy.
In her final season, Jan was blessed to live at Kavod, a community she truly loved and felt secure within.
Jan’s life was a testimony of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. On Sunday, she was surely welcomed at the gates of heaven with the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Jan leaves behind many loving friends and family members, a sister Gayle (née Rubin) Miller; cousins Kathy Rubin & Linda Royer; stepchildren Danielle (Neil), Dillon and Abbie; and step-grandchildren Nick, Nolan, and Dane.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Church in the City – Beth Abraham, followed by a reception with light refreshments.
The family kindly requests that floral tributes be sent directly to Church in the City – Beth Abraham in honor and memory of Jan.
