
Obituary of Ronald Jacob Ours Jr.
Ronald Jacob “R.J.” Ours Jr., 66, passed away on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026, in Denver, Colorado.
Born in Pennsylvania to parents Ronald Jacob Ours Sr. of blessed memory and Gloria née Robb. Loving husband to Tammy Marie Ours; Father of Ronald Jacob Ours III and Audrey Elizabeth Ours; brother of Reverend Donald Ours, Annette (Brian) Cates, and Shauna (Scott) Paulson; uncle to Michael Cates, Emily (Justin) Klimczak, and Brianna (Kevin) Clerkin and brother in law to Sally (Jason) Montgomery and uncle to Tyler.
R.J. Ours was the Colorado Government Relations Director for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) since 2004.
Before coming to the Cancer Society, R.J. worked previously as a Research Analyst with the National Conference of State Legislatures, as Director of Special Projects to former Colorado Lt. Governor Mike Callihan, as an appointive aide to former Denver City Council Members Polly Flobeck and Ramona Martinez, and as Director of Public & Intragovernmental Relations to former Denver City Auditor Don Mares.
R.J. graduated from Salida High School in 1977 where he attended Boys State and grew his commitment to public service and good government. He went to the College of Santa Fe and graduated in 1981 with a BA in political science. As an undergraduate, he attended the Washington Semester Program at American University in Washington, D.C. in 1980, where he served as a congressional intern in the office of former Colorado Third District Congressman Ray Kogovsek.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Feldman Mortuary Chapel in Denver, Colorado, starting at 10 am on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
