Obituary of Marcia Shpall
Marcia Shpall was born in Mt. Vernon, New York in 1928 to Aaron and Anita Greenberg (née Zimmerman). Marcia attended Mount Vernon high school, Ohio State University, and New York University. Marcia worked as an actress, an acting coach, a clothes buyer, and in a publishing house in Greenwich Village. She met her husband, Dr. Gerald Shpall of Denver, when he was interning at Morrisania Hospital in the Bronx, and was lured out west by adventure. They were married on August 30, 1953, and Marcia made a new life for herself in Colorado. She became an accomplished fisherman, hunter, and skier. She had four children, Elizabeth (Roy Jones), Casey (James Clark), Zachary (Debra Rosenthal), and Stephanie (Craig Moseley). In Denver, she worked as a Head Start coordinator, patient educator at University Hospital, volunteer for the Colorado Symphony, and acted in community theatre. She was a lifelong student, graduating from Metropolitan State University with a degree in history, and continued to work on her graduate degree at the Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. Marcia and Gerald are survived by her children and six beautiful grandchildren, Ben, Greg, Tellico, Cahill, Madeline, and Sadie Mae.
Donations may be made in Marcia's honor to the Josef Korbel School of International Studies Scholarship Fund at the University of Denver, P.O. Box 910585, Denver, CO 80291-0585.
