Obituary of Eugene Hohensee
Eugene “Gene” L. Hohensee died on February 24, 2020, from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) at home with his family. PSP is a neurological atypical Parkinson’s disease and, as yet there is no known cause or cure.
He was born August 11, 1946, to Elmer and Velma Hohensee formerly of Daykin, NE and Lincoln, NE. Both parents predeceased him.
Gene is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jodie, by their daughter, Jennifer Skeen (Ben) and by his granddaughter, Imogene Skeen. Gene is also survived by his sisters Elaine Endorf, Gweneth Walls, and Karan Wittig (Philip).
In 1968 Gene graduated from the University of Nebraska with academic honors and in 1971 from New York University School of Law with academic honors.
From 1971 until 1989 he worked for the Kutak Rock Law Firm serving as Managing Partner of the Denver office from 1979 until 1989, and as Vice Chairman of that firm from 1983 until 1989. In 1990 Gene was hired by Arnold and Porter as partner in charge of the continued development of a Corporate and Securities Practice. During 1998 he was elected to the board of Denver Civic Ventures, served as Treasurer of the Board in 1991, and was elected as Chairman of the Board for the period of 1992-94. In 1995 he was elected as Chairman of the Board of the Downtown Denver Partnership Inc. and was Volunteer of the Year for the Partnership in 1997. In 2010 he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Cherry Creek North Neighborhood Association and in 2011 was elected as Board President.
As of October 1st, 2020, A Celebration of Life Memorial is still in the planning stages. The family is working dillegently on creating the proper memorial experience during these times of COVID-19. We will update this information as soon as we have more information.
