Obituary of Arlo "Mac" Douglas McRoberts

Arlo Douglas McRoberts, 87, born September 27, 1934 in Heppner, Oregon, passed away from cancer on July 27th, 2022 in Denver, Colorado.

Arlo is predeceased by his wife and soulmate, Loretta Margaret Gardiner McRoberts, whom he married June 29th, 1974 at First Baptist Church of Mar Vista in Venice, California. He is survived by his fraternal twin brother, Ellis McRoberts, his sister-in-law Marianne McRoberts, and his children: Margaret, Shelley, and John McRoberts, Rob Conlee and six grandchildren: Niko Landes, Beatrice Landes, Milo Hanshaw, Liam Hanshaw, Stefan and Coby Conlee.

Arlo served in the Navy as a weatherman during the years 1960-1964. He attended Heppner High School, The Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in West Hollywood, and also Santa Monica Community College. Arlo enjoyed building, managing and investing in various properties and business endeavors. He was an active member in the horse-back riding community in Palm Springs, and loved trail riding with his loyal companion, Blackjack. He was a strong Christian, and a dedicated donor to a number of charities and support organizations.

Arlo resided the last twenty-plus years in Palm Desert, California before moving to Los Angeles to be with his son, John and then Denver, Colorado for his last few months with his daughter, Margaret. Prior to this, Arlo lived in San Diego, California; Bend, Oregon; and Los Angeles, California. He loved to dream about the next best place to live.

Arlo was a charismatic, sociable, generous and loyal friend to many, as well as a dedicated and loving Father, Husband, and Grandfather. His memory will continue on in his children and grandchildren, and he will be forever treasured and missed.
