Obituary of Judith Ann Ramirez

Judith Ann Ramirez was born to Stella and Hyman Zaritt, a medical doctor and nurse, in New Bedford Massachusetts, on April 18,1944. She was a nurturer by heart and free spirit. She loved people from all walks of life and genuinely wanted to help.

She attended Lasell Jr. College in Auburndale, MA where she studied nursing and graduated in general curriculum. During summer breaks she worked on a migrant worker project through the Commonwealth Service Corps in New Bedford, MA to help migrant farmers and their families enroll in interest programs, including but not limited to English classes, and benefits. She ultimately graduated from George Washington University with a B.A., in sociology in 1967. She went on for the next two years to work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Washington D.C., as a correspondence assistant. In 1970 she worked for the State Judicial Department in Denver, Colorado. She worked as a detention counselor, and an administrative secretary, and probation officer that worked with juveniles in need. Her next occupation was only a “temporary job” for Texaco Trading and Transportation Inc., as an Oil and Movements Administrator and Accounting Clerk for the next 20 years. She retired from the University of Colorado Hospital at Anschutz as a Care Team assistant in 2015. She dedicated her life to helping those around her by advocating for their needs. She didn’t stop until she felt heard.

Judith lived with her immediate family. The dynamic was one of a kind, but it worked. She was always there to support her family with any and all needs, and no regrets. Her kindred spirit was also one of a kind that kept her connected to her relatives, and old friends. Listening was her superpower. Caring was who she was. She was a trooper and went along for random camping trips with her family, and enjoyed spending time with friends and loved ones.

Judith was survived by her daughter, Sara; her son-in-law, Cesar; her grandchildren, Noemi and Noel, and her pet cats Chapo and Mochi. She is preceded in death by her brother Michael Zaritt, and her parents Stella and Hyman Zaritt.
