Our hearts go out to Steve, Grant, and the Stanton Family.
I always admired the tight knit bond that Susan, Steve and Grant shared. They did everything together and lived life to the fullest through their many travels, recreational activities, time outdoors, and love of culinary delights and gourmet cooking. Susan was a good story teller, had the best smile and a contagious laugh! What a beautiful legacy Susan has left behind.
Sending our love and holding you close in prayer during the days ahead.
Much love, Joanne, Eric, Mia & Marshall

Susan hired me for my first job out of college at the DIA Business Partnership. I fondly remember my time there and Susan and Steven were always so wonderful to us. We loved the Mardi Gras parties, the secret garlicky Caesar salad and fun times waterskiing on their boat. I am shocked and saddened that we have all lost Susan. Sending our love and prayers to you, Steven and your family.

I remember a particular plane trip for one of the Chamber's LEX events, and Susan was in rare form with everyone around her. She had just read "Fast Food Nation" and just made us all laugh - and cry - about the "french fry" industry. Fast forward to the Biennial and the last time I talked with her when we were seated at Brandy Radey's table for Suncor. It had been at least ten years, but her warmth just collapsed all the time, and I felt like I was back in that plane seat next to her. That was Susan. She was real and wonderful, and will be so missed.

As a reporter, you're careful about getting close to anyone for fear of discrediting yourself, but Susan was unique and impossible to ignore. Her warmth and infectious smile were always trained on you and you alone. She embraced you in authenticity. I'll never forget waterskiing for the first - and only - time with Susan and Steve at 5 a.m. at Cherry Creek Reservoir. I was cold and freaking out, and she was so kind and encouraging and ENTHUSIASTIC. I will miss her deeply, and I regret that we didn't stay in closer contact over the years. RIP Susan. You will be sorely missed.

So very sad, we worked together on DIA and after we won the Adams County election she was so gracious with her praise for all of our Adams County Partners! She and I worked with the existing airlines and went to surrounding states and pushed for them to encourage their airlines to fly through DIA.
She was fun, smart and always willing to learn and kick in a door. We will miss her.

Susan was a friend and colleague. She was always warm, kind, smart, and generous. She was always willing to go the extra mile for any of us.
Susan went out of her way to be supportive. Going out of her way to offer friendship, wisdom, and mentorship to anyone looking to grow professionally. She was always learning herself and made everything she touched a little bit better.
My heart goes out to Steve, Grant, and her whole family. Susan you will be missed.

While I have only had the opportunity to know Susan the past 5 years, I had the opportunity to work up close with her through some challenging circumstances. What I saw was a very authentic and loyal individual who went out of her way to make life better and enjoyable for others, including clients, friends, family, neighbors and whole communities. In times where we find our nations, state and neighborhoods so divided, Susan was an example of how to serve others and make a difference.
As a friend and a colleague, I can say she will be greatly missed. My prayers are with Steve and Grant that they would find peace and comfort in the days ahead!

Susan touched so many lives, and especially mine. Her heart was filled with kindness and compassion for others, Her quick wit and contagious laugh always put a smile on my face, and her love and enthusiasm for life was so invigorating and inspirational.
Susan taught me to always take the high road, the importance of building strong friendships, putting family first, laughing when I wanted to cry, to think BIG when mediocre was easy, and to reach outside my comfort zone and take risks. She was the ultimate connector and dealmaker, and so much more...
Her family and friends meant the world to her, and we will all miss her so deeply!

Susan was supposedly my "boss". She wasn't. She didn't have a bossy bone in her body. She was all about being a colleague and friend. It was a privilege to know and work with someone so collegial, bright, warm, caring and funny. We pretty much
connected every day in some way and never were there arguments - just wonderful conversations about how to deal with the challenges of various projects. And, of course, life issues were often part of those conversations as well. She cared so deeply about Steven and Grant, and was thrilled that Grant found his "place" at East High School. I learned so much from her; what a
pleasure having her as an integral part of my life. I miss her deeply already. With Great Sadness, Nora Kimball

The pain of losing our wonderful Susan may lessen but will leave a permanent scar on the heart of everyone she touched during her short life. Steven and Grant, although it seems difficult now, you will learn to live with this loss, holding steadfast on Susan’s memory. Remember, when someone as large in life as Susan leaves us, be assured God had a purpose, and you should be comforted in knowing she is in his hands watching over you both.....smiling.

We are saddened by the loss of our dear sister-in-law Susan. What a sweet and caring person she was was to all of us; always accommodating and friendly to us during our visits to Colorado and her family visits to Pensacola (Beach) and Nashville. Her kind eyes and her welcoming smile and her fun laugh were her trademarks. The way she would call your name was so genuine and engaging. She loved her family with such an obvious focus and applied that same focus to the people and passions she considered important. We will miss you dear Susan. We celebrate your life where you lived each day to the fullest not wasting time on unimportant things but being an example to us all of giving, living, loving and caring. Love and prayers always, Jim and Terry Hayden

Susan was truly dedicated to her community and sought to understand the challenges, inform the community and advocate for better outcomes. Susan served on Denver Planning Board as vice-chair, on the Golden Triangle Advisory Committee, on the Economic Relief and Recovery Council (ERRC) and was helping refresh our Large Development Review (LDR) process. She was an incredible member and voice on Planning Board and brought a sensible, thoughtful approach to development. She has served her community and Denver for decades, and her loss will be deeply felt.

Susan made everyone feel like her best friend. I had the privilege of meeting her when I joined the Denver Planning Board in 2017, and the joy of calling her a friend ever since. We had each other’s backs and were often making plans together for future articles we could write or talks we could give. I look back now on the text I received on the Monday night before her passing. It opened with her classic, “Hey Lady!” I will miss that greeting, along with “Hey Girlie!” More than I could have imagined.
Much love and comfort to everyone Susan impacted during her active life. I know the list is long.

Susan was friends with everyone--never judgmental, never one to exclude. When she was with you, she was 100% there, always listening, no matter how trivial the subject. In her honor and memory, may we all be more open in our hearts and minds, put down our phones and computers and listen to each other, and give back to our communities every day.
