Dear family of George--
George & I graduated from Westminster together. We became buddies our senior year as suite mates in Wetterau Hall. Together we watched Sidney Montcrief & Arkansas win the NCAA basketball championship in 1978. During our time together George told me Arkansas's Attorney General at that time--Bill Clinton--one day would be President. George knew the family from Hot Springs & went to high school with Bill's brother Roger. George knew that Bill was an intelligent & a very capable politician. I did not know about George's passing until today. I have had children & other family in Denver over the years & was hopeful one day I would reunite with George there. He was intelligent, kind, funny, personable, quiet, & all of things mentioned in his obituary & by others. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family.
With sympathy,
Greg DeLong

I have just come across this obituary and am so profoundly and utterly saddened.
George was one of my best friends in high school. We played church league basketball together at the Y (he the star forward for CYO!), cards at homes of various friends around town, the horses at Oaklawn, golf at Belvedere, and so much more. We even did a road trip together to Dallas to watch PGA golf at Colonial National, shadowing Gary Player during a practice round like the two wide-eyed groupies that we were.
He did his undergraduate in Missouri and me in New Orleans, after which I moved to Denver. After law school, George also happened to move there and actually took the room I had been renting near Denver University. I soon left Colorado for other adventures, but the last time I saw him was back in Denver years later, where I had the chance to introduce my son to him.
In the end, memories are all we have, aren't they? Well GV was a good and trusted friend, full of humor and always with a kind word. I will keep him in my memory forever.
My sincerest condolences to his family.

I don’t live in Colorado anymore and have only just come across this obituary. I’m very sad to learn of this loss, George is one of the most spectacular people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. I used to wait excitedly to run into George at the DAC (he was there almost ever day). We would talk and talk about his life, and he was full of exceptional advice for young folks like me. George encouraged me in my adventures and I don’t know that I would have had the courage to move across the world without our long chats. We used to write each other post cards to stay in touch since I moved. Perhaps I’ll have to send one last update.
My dear friend, you’re very loved and I will continue to miss you. Rest easy, George. Love, Kat.

George was the kindest, most thoughtful man. I'm intrigued with the his self -developed, successful business; he was very intelligent. He gave so generously to so many individuals , he supported The DAC in many ways; the Children's Book Fair, Mile High 360 Auctions and the annual Employee Holiday Fund. George was loved because he was sincere, personable and funny. He is an angel in disguise. A beautiful person who loved life. He will be missed. Linda, The DAC

George was so loved by many staff at The Denver Athletic Club. He was a loyal member who shared his light, smile, generousity and humor daily with all of us! We are all devastated and will miss him so much! God rest his soul in peace and in the surrounding beauty of Vail which he loved to visit. Our sincere condolences to the Vaught family. His memory will live on in our hearts!
